A Montessori classroom embraces mixed-age groupings, founded on the principle of ‘freedom with responsibility.’ Under the guidance of the teacher, this approach allows children the freedom to choose and direct their activities independently, as long as they respect others in the class. Within this dynamic, children of different ages learn from one another, creating opportunities for skill-sharing, collaboration and cooperation.
